Our Story
Women of Victory began as Pinky Promise Ministry on March 22, 2018, and was founded by then Virginia State University (VSU) sophomore Jneva Norfleet. The very first gathering took place in Foster Hall Chapel (Room 312) and brought together 32 VSU female students along with 5 women from local churches and community organizations.
Pinky Promise was created to encourage women to honor God with their lives and their bodies, and to live wholeheartedly for Jesus in every area.
Nearly one year later, on February 20, 2019, Jneva presented the ministry before the Student Presidents Council to request official recognition as a registered VSU student organization. That day, she received a unanimous 100% vote, establishing Pinky Promise as an official student organization on campus.
A New Name & A Growing Mission
In January 2020, based on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Pinky Promise changed its name to Women of Victory, expanding its original mission to not only encourage women but also equip them to fulfill their God-given purpose through the power of Jesus Christ. Since its beginning in 2018, the ministry has seen more than 200 men and women actively participate in its programs, gatherings, and events.
In January 2020, Women of Victory launched a men's ministry called Men of Faith, a men’s group for VSU male students. While the two ministries operate independently, they remain united and often come together for events, fellowship, and outreach on campus.
Women of Victory has continued to serve faithfully on the campus of Virginia State University and remains committed to bringing glory to God for generations to come.
Becoming a National Ministry
In January 2025, Women of Victory expanded its mission beyond a single campus, officially becoming a national ministry dedicated to serving Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through Christ’s love. Founded on principles of deliverance, healing, and restoration, WOV seeks to uplift women through compassion, gentleness, and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
As part of this expansion, two new groups were established at Hampton University and Norfolk State University, joining the original group at Virginia State University.
On August 27, 2025, Women of Victory became incorporated, officially adopting the name Women of Victory Ministries, Inc.
Shortly after, on October 16, 2025, we received our 501(c)(3) religious nonprofit status, marking a new chapter of growth, stewardship, and national impact.
Looking Ahead
God has done incredible things in and through this ministry. As Women of Victory Ministries continue to grow, we look forward with expectancy, believing God will expand our reach across HBCUs throughout the United States. Our story is still being written, and the best is yet to come.
